Can We Get All Our Energy from Renewables?

Posted by Dan On March 29th

An interesting question, indeed – all of our energy from renewables.

Energy From Renewables Can We Get All Our Energy from Renewables?

Everyone has opinions. Few have enough facts. Time will tell.

Can you think of any other time when groups of people said something was impossible… and then it happened?

Enlightening Facts:

1. Many studies confirm how the combination of renewable sources can truly meet our energy needs.

2. It makes it easier if we rethink what we employ renewable energy for and how it actually improves lives.

3. There are reports showing renewables, like the wind and solar, outpacing ordinary energy sources – in both investment money and capacity growth.

I always enjoy sharing the story of how a company that switches to green energy reduces energy consumption while improving energy efficiency.

So how does a warehouse complex, like Patriot Stor-All, improve its energy efficiency?

It undergoes a number of changes. The most recent change is our installation of 313 solar panels to help meet their goal of providing 100% of the energy for each of their buildings.

There are also financial incentive programs available right now for “going solar” which provides an attractive return on investment.

An Intelligent Vision of Our Energy Future!

I really enjoy sharing intelligent visions of our energy future!  Especially where individuals are empowered!

Here’s a great article along those lines:

In my previous post, I talked about having a personal 10-year Energy Independence Plan, and promised I’d share how I’m doing with mine…

Personally, I am 5 years into my own 10-year energy independence plan.

In 2006, my average monthly electric bill at home was $157.

In 2011, after renovating our house with Energy Star appliances; replacing a hurricane damaged roof with a white metal roof; and after installing every solar product my company offers, my average monthly electric bill is down to $50.

Be sure to read my 5/10/11 blog post, “How I Saved Over 70% in 1 Year!“)

I’m happy with the results, but I’m not done.  And honestly, I’m not sure what my next step is, but that’s my point: I don’t have to know…

I just have to keep my eyes and mind open and something will show up someday.

So, start now and declare your own energy independence!

If you wait for someone else to solve your energy problem, you might not be happy with their solution. Setting yourself free may be the only way it’s ever going to happen, and… it’s very gratifying!

Energy Efficiency – Think Twice

Posted by Dan On July 6th

In my last article, I explained the difference between power and energy.

energy efficiency Energy Efficiency Think Twice

Special Thanks to Jason Szumlanski, our Operations Manager, for this blog post!

Being energy efficient is critical to saving money, but reducing power is only half the battle.  Some changes that may seem energy efficient on the surface may not save any energy at all.

Is Florida “FIT” for Solar?

PV Florida System Is Florida FIT for Solar?

Like many, you may feel that solar energy remains a distant dream, and that it’s:

  • too expensive to afford, or
  • too hard to implement.

Feed In Tariffs (FIT) could change all of that…
