Are you using solar energy in Fort Myers?

Posted by Dan On April 21st

The thought came to me…

Solar Fort Myers 466x350 Are you using solar energy in Fort Myers?

(Special Thanks to Charly from Internet Services Group for this beautiful photo of McGregor Blvd in Fort Myers!)

“I wonder how many people are using solar energy, in any way, here in Fort Myers?”

I’m really interested to hear how you’re tapping into our one of best natural resources here in Fort Myers – the sun! icon wink Are you using solar energy in Fort Myers?    Please let me know by commenting below.

As you may know, my company, Fafco Solar, offers many ways to use solar & renewable energy such as:

Thank you,

Dan

As I mentioned, in my previous blog posts, I’m sharing the latest release from the Energy Policy Institute.

It’s part of Lester Brown’s latest book, World on the Edge: How to Prevent Environmental and Economic Collapse.

Here’s the final part of this release.

Enjoy,

Part 3 of 3

Stabilizing climate will mean rapidly cutting carbon emissions by dramatically scaling up renewable energy, harnessing energy efficiency, restructuring transportation systems, curbing deforestation, and planting trees. That the fastest growth in the global energy industry over the last decade is in solar and wind is an early sign of hope.

Politicians talk about cutting carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050, but more ambitious cuts are likely needed to prevent climate catastrophe. Together the climate stabilization measures described in World on the Edge would drop net carbon emissions 80 percent by 2020.

Florida Can Be Energy and Food Independent

Posted by Dan On November 24th

Here’s my thought for the Thanksgiving weekend…

Florida can be energy independent 500x231 Florida Can Be Energy and Food Independent

A very special thank you to Charly Caldwell for introducing me to Alan Maltz’sFree Spirit” (above) — environmental consciousness through fine art, way to go!

Florida Can Be Energy and Food Independent
Florida has an abundance of natural resources.
Plenty of sunshine.
Plenty of (moving) water.
Plenty of land.
There’s enough energy landing on our roofs and
flowing in the Gulf Stream to provide all the power we need.
There’s enough land and water to provide all the food we need.
There’s enough intelligence to make it happen.

How do you feel about this?  Please comment below, and I’d love to hear from you…

Fossil Fuels – 300 Years of Growth in 5 Minutes

Posted by Dan On November 15th

Wow! I stumbled upon this video today…

…and it really sums up how fossil fuels have powered human growth and ingenuity for centuries — all in 5 short minutes!

Now that we’re reaching the end of cheap and abundant oil and coal supplies, we’re in for an exciting ride. While there’s a real risk that we’ll fall off a cliff, there’s still time to control our transition to a post-carbon future.

This amazing animated short movie is written and narrated by Richard Heinberg, author of many related books.

Be sure to watch it and let me know what you think by commenting below!

Solar Power Expected to Double In US in 2010

Posted by Dan On October 18th

Over 27,000 people went to Solar Power International – a power conference & trade show in Los Angeles held last week, and there was good reason for excitement…

Solar Power Cape Coral Fort Myers Fafco Solar 500x69 Solar Power Expected to Double In US in 2010

The US Solar Electric Industry, including both solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrating solar power (CSP) installations could achieve a milestone by installing a gigawatt of new capacity in 2010!

That’s enough to power 200,000 homes, and it’s double capacity installed in 2009.

Rhone Resch, the president & CEO of Solar Energy Industries Assocation (SEIA), which organized the event with the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), said:

“We now live in a world where you can be born in a solar hospital, get educated in a solar school, go to a solar college and while there drink beer brewed at a solar brewery.

Get married in a solar church, go to work in a solar office building, watch your favorite baseball team in a solar stadium and live in a country protected by the world’s best armed forces powered by solar.  And I’m hopeful that when I get to that magic age, my kids have the opportunity to put me in a solar-powered nursing home.

The breadth and depth of solar in our lives is amazing.”

Be sure to learn all about the multiple forms solar power can take here in Southwest Florida:

If you’re really looking to tap the power of the sun, while…

…saving a LOT of money on your electric bill, then you’ll probably be very interested to hear about Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning .

Recently, John & Dominic, stopped by Fox4′s Morning Blend, and talked about our Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning product, be sure to watch the video above to learn more.

Our Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning system uses a roof mounted solar thermal collector panel to assist a high-efficiency compressor. By using the power of the sun, we can significantly reduce your electrical consumption.

Benefits:

  • Reduce your electricity consumption
  • Efficiently cool your home
  • Enjoy the comfort of air conditioning at a lower cost

Different than solar electric systems, which produce electricity, hybrid solar air conditioning systems use evacuated tubes to heat a transfer fluid in the solar collector. This fluid superheats an environmentally friendly refrigerant to make the cooling process more efficient. The hybrid solar air conditioner reduces the amount of electricity required to cool your home.

Learn more about How Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning Works, or give us a call at (239) 574-1500.

Currently, our Hybrid Solar Air Conditioning product is available in most of Southwest Florida.   Call us at (239) 574-1500 if you want to assure it’s available for you.
